Historical Background

Founding of Kazaure

Kazaure was first settled around the year 1300 by Hausa hunters led by Kutumbi, a warrior from the Dala Hills in Kano. The name "Kazaure" originates from the phrase "Wannan Wajen Kamar Zaure!" meaning "This place is like an inner room."

Early settlers practiced hunting and small-scale agriculture, worshiping the goddess Tsumburbura, whose influence remains in Bori spiritual songs and dances.

Kazaure Under the Fulani Jihad

Kazaure became an emirate in 1819 during the Fulani Jihad led by Usman dan Fodio. Dan Tunku, one of Fodio's flag bearers, established the emirate after conflicts with neighboring Hausa rulers.
